85: Musician Trevor Hall on Karma, Healing, Soul Maps From the Stars + Fruitful Darkness Song Premiere

"Mama well she told me time / is such a wonderful gift / You're not running out / You're really running in."
—Lyrics to You Can't Rush Your Healing, by Trevor Hall

I am absolutely elated to bring you this week's guest—one of my favorite artists, singer/songwriter Trevor Hall. Trevor's divinely-guided music is infused with soul and spirit, and lifts me (and so many others) up who crave connection to meaningful lyrics and exquisite melodies.

We talk about the inspiration behind his new album, The Fruitful Darkness, with a special song premiere of "Karma" at the end of the episode (I got to choose my favorite from the new batch—which was not easy to do)! We also dive deep into astrology as a guide to our inner blueprint, how he "hears" songs before he even knows exactly what they mean, staying in flow while touring around the world, and finding blessings in the dark, unwanted, or unknown times of life. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did :)

More About Trevor Hall

Raised on an island in South Carolina, singer/songwriter Trevor Hall realized at a young age that music was more than just a passion - it was his life’s art. At sixteen, he recorded his first album, soon after he left California where he studied classical guitar and was introduced to the practices of yoga and meditation, which would greatly influence his life and his music.

Hall’s music, a blend of roots and folk music, is imbued with a deep love of Eastern Mysticism. His previous full-length album releases, Chapter of the Forest (2014) and KALA (2015), debuted at #3 and #2 on the iTunes singer/songwriter charts. The Fruitful Darkness is Trevor’s first independent release — supported by his fans know as THE VILLAGERS — has become the #1 Music campaign of its kind in 2017 — being released unconventionally, in three song installments on specific lunar dates.

Karma Lyrics

Rain from the cloud flowing out my mouth
Rivers and streams made of all my doubts
Looking everywhere but the here and now
All these storms coming back around
Three in Fire
Five in Water
One like a son
One like a daughter
Gotta break that cycle break it strong
This been going on way too long
Being human so confusing
Some winning sometime losing
You got me thinking again
Of all this virtue and sin
That's going round and round and
Now as your cycle returns
Between the sky and the earth
It's nice to meet you again
Roaming through that scorpio
Stinging myself with everything I hold
Better know my stars to know my soul
This current's strong so I learn to row
Because nothing is as it may seem
Don't believe everything you think
When the mind is spinning
What to believe?
Root down strong like a banyan tree
I see this is the law of creation
My being is one constellation
All in all it's all divination
Elevating my meditation with
