Pivoting is a mindset and a skill set, and it is one we can all get better at. 

In the first half of the session, Jenny Blake will walk us through the four-stage Pivot Method, a process that will help you coach others to:

  • Identify existing strengths, interests and experiences, and define success one year out

  • Scan the horizon for new skills, people and opportunities related to their role and team

  • Reduce risk by running small experiments and working on projects that can provide feedback

  • Launch next steps with confidence, bolstered by the skills and methodology to adjust seamlessly and continuously

During the second half, we'll focus on best practices for managers to enhance career coaching skills, with powerful questions and practical tips to make rapid progress in any conversation. You'll learn how to apply the Pivot Method framework to help employees set a powerful vision and map next moves, even within their role, and skill-development around asking powerful questions to support employees’ learning, growing, and career development.

Pivot Career Coaching: Powerful Tools for Creating Aha Moments

This workshop is best as skill-building for internal coaches, and builds on the manager session description above.

During the second half, we'll focus on practical tips for internal coaches to make rapid progress in any conversation. You'll learn powerful questions to support coachee learning, growth, and career development, and shortcuts to help create aha moments as you create a compelling vision and quickly work through situations where they feel stuck or uncertain.

Workshop Cost: $15,000 - $25,000 (depending on location, duration, customization; includes all transportation costs except hotel)

Includes:

  • 1.5 - 2-hour workshop

  • More in-depth is 2 days if part of launching an internal coaching program (see below)


Pivot Train-the-Trainer & Pivot Coach Training

Scale Pivot training and internal coaching programs to create a culture of powerful, transformational 1:1 career conversations. Together, we’ll design a program to equip a team of internal facilitators and/or advisors to provide skilled career coaching and manage coachee relationships, for group workshops, short-term career coaching engagements (one session) and in a follow-up training, longer-term engagements (3+ sessions).

This program will allow you to introduce a simple strengths-based language to help employees speak openly about their career, share challenges and aspirations; gain new insight into when they are at their best at work, and new areas to develop in the year ahead (mapping a one-year vision even within their existing role); expand the notion of career growth beyond just role change and promotion; and foster a greater sense of possibility within the organization.

Together, we’ll design a customized program that certifies internal Pivot Trainers to deliver and customize Pivot materials throughout the organization. We will ensure facilitators have everything they need at their fingertips, able to adeptly handle questions and challenges on an ongoing basis.

Map What's Next: One-Hour Workshop-in-a-Box

In partnership with Actionable Conversations, I have created a one-hour workshop that anyone on your team can lead in addition to, or in place of, a kickoff keynote with your organization. You will have everything you need to facilitate at the workshop at your fingertips, with a dashboard to track group participation and follow-up.

This conversation framework is a great tool for office book clubs, leadership development, and team building exercises. The workshop can guide reflection and discussion about developing within one's role, not just bigger career pivots.

Cost: $497 per credit (1 credit supports up to 10 people; discounted rate for larger groups and/or multiple teams)*
