Pivot to Profit: VIP Strategy Day with Jenny

together we'll roll-up our sleeves, solve your stickiest challenges, crack big creative nuts, and get your most important sh*t done

After pausing my coaching practice while focusing on large-scale Pivot programs for organizations since the book Pivot launched in 2016, each year I do open up a few select spots to go deep and thought-partner with people who are ready to take their business, book or side hustle to the next level—as these are my biggest business-building passions.

I love working with heart-based business owners looking to scale to the next level—freeing up time, money, and energy while serving the highest good.

At the moment, I am opening up just 5 spots for a private 1:1 in-person VIP strategy day with me in New York City.

My Story: Finding my Way from Golden Handcuffs to Solopreneur Shackles . . . and Finally to Mid Six-Figures While working 10-20 Hour Weeks with a Part-Time Team of 4

I'm not cut out for this.

What if the jig is up?

Am I delusional to think I'm cut out for this?

Maybe I should go back to my former Google colleagues and ask for another job . . . with a heavy heart, because I know my business still has life in it.

These were the thoughts racing through my head two years after I left my job in coaching and career development at Google, when I hit a plateau in my business and questioned what to do next.

I remember when I decided to quit, I had all these outsized fears of ending up "in a van down by the river." To combat them, I at least made myself also ask: but what if I earn twice as much in half the time?

Better still, how can I earn twice as much in half the time? With ease and joy? While serving the highest good for all involved?

My first two years of self-employment, I was earning less and but at least had redesigned my lifestyle so that I could wake up without an alarm, exercise when I felt like it (even mid-day), and work from anywhere.

But I still wasn't totally connected to a bigger mission that just service-delivery and survival, and most of my business activities stopped resonating at the deep level I wanted them to. So I paused all of my coaching and courses while I retreated to redesign my business model, my brand, and my next direction. Or put another way, I pivoted — even without the language or Pivot Method in place at the time :)

For better or worse, I'm not someone who can fake it.

I have to feel 100% aligned with my business and the products and services I'm selling. I want to know that I am speaking with truth, from the heart, and giving people the best I've got. While being energetic, physically fit, and present for my friends and family—not stressed, sleep-deprived, or strung out on 24/7 work pressures.

As my bank account balance started to dwindle closer and closer to zero, the chokehold of panic started to set in. At that point the question is no longer the lofty, "What would you do if you knew you wouldn't fail?" but

What do you do when your back is up against the wall?

Rent was due in two weeks. I didn't have the money to pay it.

I hired a business coach with some of my last remaining money—a four-session Hail Mary—hoping, praying they could give me a magic solution. But I left each session more deflated than I started.

We were so busy looking at answers six months out that none of them eased the stress of what was happening right now. It was only after that engagement ended that I realized what we both did wrong: ignoring what was working, what I was already skilled at, the clients I already had. When I asked for specifics of how they ran their business, they demurred. It was those tactics—the ones from the trenches of how they systematized their business that I was really craving.

Fast forward four years later . . .

I became determined to create a method to solve this "what's next" problem for all of us faster. I became obsessed with my new mission: if change is the only constant, let's get better at it.

And I truly believe one of the most powerful personal development paths for staring down gremlins and stepping into your fullest expression is self-employment.

Over the next four years, with the systems and strategies I'm super stoked to share with you, I:

  • Landed a book deal with my dream publisher, Penguin/Random House, and wrote a book called Pivot: The Only Move That Matters Is Your Next One that won an Axiom award for best business book in the careers category in 2016.

  • I started consulting and large-scale licensing programs with companies like Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn, and CHANEL.

  • I trained a team of Pivot coaches to help while I was on the keynote speaking circuit (and had raised my fees from $5K to $10K per speech to $15,000 to $25,000).

  • I have been running my beloved private community Momentum for side-hustlers and solopreneurs since 2014

  • While growing my Pivot Podcast that Entrepreneur named among the top 20 female-hosted business podcasts and CNBC noted as one of the 7 best for your career

But the biggest win, one that I had been building toward for ten years of running an online platform and six years of running it full-time as a solopreneur:

For the first time, I earned triple what I made at Google, in a third of the time—if not even fewer hours.

I was not juggling all of this as a stressed out mess. Quite the contrary!

In fact, I was spending just 5 to 20 hours of computer time each week (so that figure doesn't reflect time spent on flights or delivering speaking engagements) and delegating or systematizing the rest. With no full time employees, myself included (ie. this doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg), and meeting and marrying my now husband (which meant that I was no longer working weekends or in solopreneur hermit mode).

A soul-centered lifestyle business that you love IS possible, whether full-time or as a side hustle.

I am proof that with strategic grit, super smart systems, and a serving of grace and intentionality, you can work in a way that is calm, focused, clear, and authentic—on what matters most, for the people and products you care about most.

And now I want to work with a small handful of people each year to mentor and coach in the way I wish I had during my biggest business plateaus. Specific. Strategic. Shortcuts. Open book mode.

I will give you every single nugget of wisdom I have gathered in 11 years of running an online platform, a decade of career coaching, and six years of consulting and keynote speaking—so that you don't have to learn every lesson the hard way. I'll share exactly how much I earn, from what sources, with the systems and templates that support every facet of my business. I am happy to provide you with copies of speaking contracts, book proposals, sample email correspondence, share my specific financial numbers as it’s helpful, and anything else you can think of.

It's time to take yourself, your life, and your business seriously—even if it's still a side hustle that you want to grow as an option to serve as an exit strategy someday.

Coaching is one of the most effective ways to dismantle blindspots and roadblocks. You won't be in the trenches alone, you'll have a thought-partner right by your side, rooting for you, making connections for you, helping facilitate your best thinking and translating your deepest instincts and desires into a smart, strategic, tactical, practical action plan.

Jenny is off the charts good. I’ve worked with a lot of coaches but ours was like no coaching relationship I’ve ever had. She truly became my partner and whether it was introducing me to key people in her network, helping me hatch a plan for marketing my book or giving me the kind of homework that created profound shifts in my thinking, I knew she had my back. I could not have asked for more and I know that I’ll continue to seek her support for a long time to come.

  • If you choose to do your session in person in New York City, you’ll get the luxury red carpet experience that I love when traveling: two nights at a boutique hotel, gourmet meals during our work day, and car service to and from the airport. You just have to book your flights and show up, and my team and I will take care of the rest :)

I was introduced to Jenny as a coach through a recommendation from an entrepreneurs’ network and have had the pleasure to work with her. After our initial conversation and being referred to past clients, it became very clear that Jenny is someone with a lot of experience in coaching, and with a great, diverse network to draw examples and experiences from.

Specific things that have been helpful have been solidifying some of my prior goals and clarifying some other short term and long term objectives. I was able to accomplish a tremendous amount of things in a very short amount of time, and felt revitalized.

Jenny has a very upbeat and cheerful style, and it’s always a pleasure to connect. Our sessions felt like work and fun at the same time thanks to her great attitude and personality.

What can we work on together?

While our agenda will be customized to meet your specific goals, here are a few common strategic projects that my clients and I have partnered on:

  • Crafting your signature speech — the message and content outline for delivering a TEDx talk and building your specific thought leadership. We can work together to come up with a synthesized mission statement and big idea, then craft it into a compelling speech and go over pointers for preparing and presentation skills.

  • Outlining a book or course — clarifying exactly what you want to write and teach, who you want to reach, how you structure your book or course for maximum impact, and any/all technical tools and next steps to making it happen. If there's time, we can even start building it together.

  • Six-figure business model design — honing in on your ideal clients, how to find them, what to charge, and how to structure your services in a way that helps you earn twice as much in half the time. Together we'll design a business model that fits you and your strengths, not one based on what "everyone else is doing." (I know how exhausting that is!)

  • Building your platform — this can include everything from setting up your website together, writing copy, or strategizing exactly what kind of social media and content presence most resonates.

  • Refining your systems, schedule and team — cleaning up your digital systems, applying just the right linchpin tools to streamline your life and work, identifying pain points then solving how you can automate and delegate to free up major pockets of time. We'll also build your vision for your ideal day-to-day flow and routines—a plan that allow you to focus on what matters most beyond work—whether time for reflection or meditation, exercise, friends and family.

  • Pivot plan / exit strategy: if you’re thinking about leaving your full-time job and are ready to take your side hustle to the next level, we'll work together to map out your business model in a way that allows you to maintain your full-time job without burning the candle at both ends. You'll build methodically toward what you need so that by the time you do give your two weeks notice, you're super confident and set-up for success.

To say that I was impressed by Jenny Blake is an understatement. She was able to articulate and impart so many pearls of wisdom . . . the time flew by so quickly!
